Jenna + Garrett – Engagement Session

This past May, I got to shoot Jenna and Garrett’s engagement session photos. They turned out amazing if I do say so myself.

Jenna was the most wonderful bride to be – kind, relaxed and full of laughter. Her fiance, Garrett was such an amazing sport, taking all of my crazy ideas in stride – and with a pinch of salt haha! You could tell how much they love each other.

Our shoot took place at Innis Wood Metro Park, here in Columbus Ohio.

To loosen up, I always play my couples’ favorite song (or play one of these romantic ones). In their case, it was Kane Brown – Heaven. Have a listen as you read on and enjoy the rest of their photos.

Press play. Trust me.

Since we were still in spring, I decided we had to capture the beautiful tulips. We also decided we’d start with the more formal outfits and switch into the more casual ones as the session progressed.

We also found some trees that were in full blooming glory and we decided to use them as our backdrop for some close portraits.

This park had tons of little scenes set up into the landscape and it made it so easy to set up beautiful shots! Here are a few from a little area that was lined with evergreens.

We then decided to switch into the more casual outfits and wandered deeper into the park. We were not disappointed with the number of trails and trees that made for the perfect photo ops.

Jenna and Garrett were super playful and great sports. This image was actually their idea and I love it so much!

As we wandered through the park, we found some stairs that lead to a really beautiful arbor surrounded by bricks and foliage. It was almost like a secret garden as one of my Instagram followers mentioned! (Hey Tammy!) – This is also where I introduced Garrett to the now infamous “machine-gun kisses” prompt!

Jenna, being the genius bride that she is, brought along a blanket for some shots she really wanted to include! How adorable are these photos!?

All in all, it was such an amazing day. If you’re a wedding photographer or bride, I highly suggest setting up an engagement session before your wedding day photos. Not only does it help the photographer get to know their couple, it also allows the couple to get their jitters out of the way before the big day.

I’m writing this post after Jenna and Garrett’s wedding because of technical difficulties, but that’s a story for a different day. If you’d like to check that post out, click here!

Have fun lovelies.
